Intermediate Girls Competition Year 7 & 8
Intermediate Girls Have-a-Go Tackle Rugby afternoon!
Otago Rugby Union Development Office, Warren Kearney, was among the action as he delivered a successful girls rugby afternoon with six teams from around the region.
'It was an afternoon of opportunity for intermediate girls to try their hand at tackle rugby, and it’s fair to say they had a great time!' Commented Kearney
'Scheduled for last term but cancelled due to rain and snow we tried again this term, unfortunately a couple of schools couldn’t play but we still had 6 teams competing from Balmacewen, Kavanagh, Tahuna, Dunedin North Intermediate and Fairfield'. 'There were a few scared girls out there, but once they got a tackle under their belt they were off laughing and enjoying themselves' Kearney added.
Each team played three 20minute games and the top team from each pool played off in the final.
The final was played between Tahuna and Balmacewen, with Tahuna winning the final 6 tries to 2.
Congratulations to all teams for getting out there and having a go!
