Local Referees Get Rewarded

Ross Barnett Referees North Otago vs Buller Heartland Championship Game
Otago referee Ross Barnett officiated in his second first class fixture on Saturday the 4th September when he controlled the North Otago vs Buller game in Oamaru.

Ross was called in as a late replacement when national squad referee Shaun Elliot was ruled out due to injury.

This was Ross’s second first class fixture after he controlled the North Otago vs King Country game in Oamaru last season.   

North Otago easily disposed of Buller by 44 points to 20 having led at halftime 18 to 6.

Otago Referee Representation in South Island Squads Increases To Eleven
The Otago referee representation in South Island Squads has increased by one to eleven after Otago referee Brad Taylor was added to the South Island u16 referee panel.

Brad was added to the tournament squad after Canterbury referee William Johnston was ruled out due to injury.

Otago referees have dominated Squads selected by the South Island selectors this year with four referees named in the S.I. Zone Squad, three in the S.I. u18 panel and with Brad’s inclusion the number climbing to four selected for the u16 tournament.     

The South Island u16 tournament takes place at the Queenstown Events Centre from Wednesday September 29th to Saturday the 2nd of October.Otago Referees.
