Otago Quarter Final v Auckland

Otago Head Coach Mark Brown has named his side to play Waikato in the Quarter Final of the Bunnings Warehouse NPC this Friday 10 October, 7:10pm, at Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin.

Lucas Casey will earn his Blazer, taking the field for his 15th game for the province.  Sam Gilbert will captain the team, with Christian Lio-Willie as vice-captain.

“Being able to play finals rugby at home in front of our fans is a real privilege.  We set out at the start of the season to make the finals playing a style of rugby that engaged our community. We are both pleased with our results and humbled by the support we have received from all parts of our community.  Liam’s 100th game and the Shield defence verses North Harbour was an awesome occasion for everyone.  On a sunny Friday evening under the roof, I’d like to call on that support again to help us overcome Waikato”.   – Otago Head Coach, Mark Brown.

NPC School Visits

Yesterday members of our NPC team visited several local high schools to run a Punt, Pass, Penalty challenge.
Representatives from each school will take part in a special relay during halftime at tonight’s game — a great way to showcase our young talent and community spirit! The Otago team love getting involved and connecting with local students.

Milestones

A triple team milestone took place last week while the team was on the road!

Ryan Bambry, Assistant Coach, Spencer Byers, Team Analyst and Simon Wallace team Manager all celebrated 50 games with the Otago NPC team!

Both Ryan and Spencer began with the NPC team in 2021 and continue to be valued members of the management team!

Simon has been part of the Otago Rugby family since 2014, stepping into the Team Manager role in 2021.

Congratulations lads, and thank you for everything you do behind the scenes to keep the Blue and Gold rolling!

Coach Development

Last week the Game Development team were lucky to host 20 coaches at the Highlanders Schools Camp. Our coaches had a full day observing trainings, squad meetings and a Q & A with the Highlanders full coaching squad. This was a great opportunity for the 2025 Representative Team coaches to grow their coaching skill set. A massive thank you to the Highlanders for allowing us to attend and supporting our growth.
