Otago Secondary School Rugby is thrilled to announce that 2024 will be the first year of a three-year partnership with Freeman Roofing for the naming rights of the new Southern Schools Rugby Championship.
2024 sees the competition growing from the previous twelve (12) teams, to eighteen (18) with the addition of the First XVs of Māruwai / Menzies Combined, Cromwell College and Central Southland College, along with the Second XVs of Southland Boys’ High School, King’s High School and John McGlashan College. This ensures the competition will feature the top Secondary School rugby talent from the southern region each week.
The competition will comprise of two round robins played in divisions, before moving into playoffs. The first round is scheduled to start on Saturday 11 May and concludes with a finals day on Saturday 17 August.
