Referee Recognition!!
Ollie Shore is set to take charge of his first Southern Premier match which is between Clinton and Clutha Valley on Thursday night under the lights in Clinton at 7pm.
Ollie first started with ORRA in 2020 where he would run the touch lines most Saturdays for games in Metro and in South. In 2021 he picked up the whistle and gave refereeing a go. He has progressed through the grades since then and has currently found great form with the variety of games he has refereed this season which include 1st XV, Premier Colts and Premier Development in Dunedin. He also referees Touch during the summer and last season he was awarded #1 ranked NZ youth referee of the year 2023/24.
Ollie is no stranger to voluntary work as he is also a volunteer Fire Fighter in Balclutha in which he is very passionate about looking after his community. We all thank him for that. Ollie is also the current Head Boy at South Otago High School so is a very busy man.
At just 17 years of age Ollie will be the youngest referee appointed to a Premier fixture Otago wide which is a great achievement by him. We wish him all the best for the game and if you are nearby come down and support Ollie on this special occasion.
