Otago Rugby Celebrates Liam Coltman’s 100th Game
On Saturday 27 September, Otago Rugby was proud to celebrate a remarkable milestone as Liam Coltman ran out for his 100th game in the Blue and Gold, becoming Otago Centurion #23.
Coltman first pulled on the Otago jersey back on 31 July 2010. Over the past 14 years, he has become a cornerstone of the team – admired for his commitment, work ethic, and leadership both on and off the field.
The milestone was marked with fitting celebrations. On Friday, the squad held a special Captain’s Run featuring a special presentaion from his fmaily and team. The following afternoon, the recognition continued as he was honoured post-match in front of the season’s biggest crowd – a moment worthy of his immense contribution to Otago Rugby.
Beyond his provincial career, Coltman has enjoyed an outstanding rugby journey. A dynamic hooker, he played more than a decade with the Highlanders, notching up over 100 appearances and helping the side claim their historic 2015 Super Rugby title. On the international stage, Liam also earned selection for the All Blacks, debuting in 2016 and going on to wear the black jersey nine times.
Reaching 100 games for Otago cements his status as one of the province’s modern greats – a player who has stayed true to the Blue and Gold throughout his career and embodied the values of Otago Rugby.
Congratulations Liam on an incredible achievement, and thank you for the pride and passion you’ve brought to every match!
