MID-SEASON LEADERBOARD UPDATE

The leaderboards across Otago are starting to take shape, with some tight races developing as the season rolls on.

In Men’s Metro Division 1, University have set the pace early and currently sit clear at the top. Behind them, it’s incredibly close, with just one point separating 3rd through to 5th. With seven matches still to play, there’s still plenty of rugby ahead and a lot that can change.

The Women’s Metro Division 1 is shaping up in a similar way. Dunedin Ururoa have made a strong start to lead the competition, while the middle of the table is tightening — particularly the battle for 3rd place. With six rounds remaining, there’s still a great opportunity for teams to build momentum heading into the back half of the season.

In the Southern Premier Men’s competition, West Taieri have put themselves in a strong position at the top, although Clutha remain within reach. The competition through the middle of the table is tight, with only small margins separating sides, making every game increasingly important as the finals approach.

Over in Central Otago, Cromwell have been the standout so far, creating a gap at the top of the leaderboard. However, the race behind them remains alive, with Upper Clutha and Wakatipu locked together and pushing to close the gap.

With the season now past the halfway mark, each competition is beginning to tell its own story. From tight mid-table contests to teams establishing themselves at the top, the coming weeks will be crucial as sides push for a spot in the finals.
