MATT FADDES COMMITS FOR 2018 & 2019

Otago Rugby announced today that Matt Faddes has extended his current contract to include the 2018 and 2019 Mitre 10 Cup seasons.

Having Matt extend his contract is great for both Matt and Otago Rugby, he is a good Southern Man who has taken his game to another level during the last couple of seasons” said Head Coach Cory Brown.

Born and bred in Balclutha, Faddes learnt his trade at South Otago High School and like most 18 year olds, made the move to Otago to attend University.  A true bookworm, he set up camp at the University of Otago Rugby Club, making the premier side in 2010 and helping the side to victory in the 2015 season.

Faddes made his debut for Otago in 2011 however, it was not until the 2015 season where his speed, skill set and try scoring ability really came to the fore, as the side stormed through to the semi-finals. He has since accumulated 33 caps and is now a prominent figure in Otago Rugby.

It was my childhood dream to play for Otago and it’s seems surreal that I am about to embark on my 7th season. Wearing the blue and gold is a huge honour and it has brought a great deal of pride, not only to myself but to my family. I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to represent a province rich in history and pride for another two years.” - Matt Faddes.
